TPCA’s employees helping the flooded
The most recent flooding is history for a couple of months already, but people living in the areas continue fighting the disastrous consequences still today. Therefore, the Kolín-based carmaker TPCA Toyota Peugeot Citroën was leaving the fundraising collection of its employees open until these days. TPCA decided on the use of the final amount, totalling nearly CZK 300,000, in collaboration with the humanitarian organization People in Need.
The flooding that struck Moravia and Northern Bohemia at the beginning of this July has taken lives of people and has caused extensive material damages, in addition to mental harm. During the time of the flooding, there were various nation-wide fundraising collections; different organizations, individuals, municipalities or the government helped the flooded regions. „It seems that this year’s flooding is history. Problems are in focus of the media only when they are new, but people still continue struggling with the consequences. Therefore we prolonged the fundraising collection until these days and in cooperation with the People in Need foundation we have selected projects that have not received financial support“, explains Vadim Petrov, general director of Corporate Affairs department.
Funds raised in the collection come from the employees, as well as the company TPCA. Employees donated a total of CZK 112,962 by means of the employee benefit programme; CZK 21,700 will be sent to Moravia by members of staff who have donated their extra pay for full attendance. The amount collected from sale of T-shirts at TPCA Beat Fest, a talent-scouting music show, totalled CZK 6,690. Thus the entire sum equals CZK 141,352, which will be doubled by TPCA’s contribution. As a result, CZK 282,704 will be donated to three selected projects in Moravia, allocated in equal parts. „I would like to thank our employees. They have put the idea of organizing a fundraising collection to help Northern Moravia to the table. TPCA helped by practically organizing the collection“, Vadim Petrov added.
Where TPCA helps
The final amount will be allocated in equal parts among three organizations – a nursing home at Hustopeče nad Bečvou, grammar school at Bělotíně and the municipality of Žulová for reconstructing a bridge. The collection is not the only form of TPCA’s help provided to those who are in need of it. At the beginning of July, i.e. right at the beginning of the flooding, the carmaker decided to lend Toyota Aygos, Peugeot 107s and Citroën C1s to People in Need, a humanitarian organization, for a long term, in order to let their field workers use for transport in the regions struck by this year’s flooding.
However, it is not the only form of support. In the region of its operations, TPCA has launched its own programme of grants named Partnership for Kolín region in 2005. Under the programme, the company donates four million koruna every year to projects following these priorities: safe traffic, environment and development of the region. Another grant project of TPCA is the Employee Sponsoring programme, in which it supports benevolent projects of its employees. Furthermore, TPCA supports important cultural and sport events in the region. In total, the carmaker has donated more than 74 million koruna in support of the region of Kolín.
Z-account employee benefit system
The Z-account is a well-established programme of employee benefits, being extensively popular among the members of staff. It is a virtual personal account, to which the company sends a certain number of points every month. The employee then decides on specific benefits of his or her choice. One point has the value of one koruna; considering labour jobs, an employee obtains up to 3,500 points, i.e. three thousand five hundred koruna a month.
